Suprised about the recent interest in the pseudo-science of Edenworlds mashina and guardia. Based on the landslide of the recent poll too, It seems that alot of people (the vocal ones) are really interested in the theme of this comic, human/mecha. What are your thoughts?

I’m actually taking a rather big interest in it. Normally, no one ever goes all the way to work out actual mechanics for it happening. The mech/guardia thing is a nice twist on the subject, so I’m rather glad that we’re now getting into Edenworld itself to see how things play out.
You’ve shown us Lyron and Panchun; an unlikely cute couple (Yes Lyron, you ARE a couple!). It’s fairly clear that *something* might happen between them (and I want something cool to happen). But it’s not enough to know that it could happen. I’m a nosy parker and I want to know HOW. If I like a movie on DVD I watch the special features to get some extra background. A little science adds extra interest and helps the story seem that more credible. (On my part that includes stuff on the slugapedes and armordons as well as adorable Squibble Calamansi)
AttackMidgit: I have an Attack Midget? Holy shit. (sends you after Jaylaw) GO MY PRETTY! Btw hello, welcome! I’m happy people are taking interest. Honestly, I thought some of this would be offensive. Btw, I’ll send you the link to my other blog in your e-mail. Enjoy.
Jaylaw:
There will be more snippets from the memory belt coming soon too! You get to see their relationship unfold through flashbacks and it’ll make better sense later.
ARRRRGH-! *runs from the attack midget!*
*snugs both*
Far from offending us, you’ve got us readers fascinated by the biology of how two species, (human and Machina) can be made compatible. I’m waiting for the Dorling Kindersley (DK) study aid book of cross sections and diagrams. o_~
Once we know more details of how Machina do … what they do, we’ll understand any odd quirks in Lyron and Panchun’s relationship (such as the flashback where Lyron’s subconscious tries to infect her and her magic protects her from his ‘blood’).
I’m with Jaylaw on watching all the special features. I’m never satisfied with the answer that something’s that way simply because it is, I want to know the background of it. And I also love science and the biological part of things, which makes this all incredibly interesting to me. I’ve never seen someone take mecha the direction you have and make them “natural” in a sense.
And in the other ongoing comment thread I think you mentioned that they can even add the nanites to the water. What happens if they use this water to irrigate Sky Texas and some of it falls to the land below and bigifys something? Do the Mashina have a crew following it around getting rid of unnesseccarily large flaura and fauna?
I’m also a bit curious as to how you would even remove a chunk of earth that large from the ground. There’d be some major techtonic schenanigans going on with that.
Thoughts:
Are there Sargon tailors in Edenworld touting lace, satins and silks for Mashina to adorn their Guardia? Rendivi almost comes with her own built-in clothing… (next to Lyron and Panchun, Squibbl and Rendivi are my favourite characters!!!) but would Jet offer her pretty capes, sarongs, outfits and such as well?
Can a Mashina take on a giant human form? After all, Guardia can (presumably after a bit of training) assume a mecha form…
..do married Mashina acquire the luxury of being able to taste/smell as opposed to ‘detecting chemicals’ … to experience eating? (although perhaps they can smell already, but certainly they don’t eat)
Curiosity abounds!
schmedderling: btw, “Sky texas” is just a creator nick-name for edenworld, but it really is called edenworld. I hope i havent confused anyone. To answer your question, there is no clean-up crew for plants and water boosted with nanomachines, but mashina will take care to make sure they dont leave too much of their blood and body parts behind because that IS hazerdous and will kill something. (also, about 50% of the time EW is usually traveling abouve the desert or the sea, so anything that falls is pretty much lost.)
jaylaw: Your probibly not going to like this answer. The mashina are xenophobic and basicly dont allow the other races to set foot on edenworld (except for Haemon Nogias who is an ambassidor) EW is basicly a nudist colony, the mashina all agreed that the females shouldnt wear clothes because they themselves dont wear clothes. Blankets are allowed, but a guardia only wears clothes if shes traveling outside of edenworld.
Male mashina are not magical, so they cannot change into human form. With that said, Most guardia cannot shape shift either unless its into their Alt mecha mode. changeing from one species into anouther is basicly a rare and usually permanent thing.
Male mashina never eat human food, but they gain the data of the foods their women have eaten in code like Binary that helps them understand the sweetness of fruit and the savoryness of meat. (basicly they taste the food through their women).
The science that Keeps EW (the continent) floating is not 100% worked out yet. But its roughly based on magnetic poles, Example, magnets that have a south pole and a north pole attract, but a magnet with a south and a south or a north and a north repell eatchother. Inside of Ignas (the planet) there are mines full of rare earth elements, (rare earth magnets are permanent) and the mashina use huge sophisticated engines to push and pull and maintain electromagnetic charge through the underbelly of the land so it sails smoothly across the surface world. Anouther added feature is that the atmosphere in this world is less dense but contains more oxygen so the world supports bigger lifeforms and objects (much like the time of the dinosaurs). I am not a science or a biology major however, so dont quote me on this.
Well, I am an Environmental Biology major, and that seems sound enough to me. ^_^ However, due to the currents in the planet’s magma that drive techtonic shifts, there’s also a constant shifting of the magnetic field and occaisionally even the poles will switch! (the north pole’s actually been moving from Canada to Russia pretty consistently for the past couple of decades…or was it from Russia to Canada…)
If there was a large amount of cooled magnetic metals under Edenworld’s surface it could possible work, but depending on when they formed their charge may be different (the poles flipping thing). There are also certain magma plumes on Earth that seem to stay stationary, so the magnetic field there’d be pretty constant.
The science is very plausible, it’d just take a lot of special measurements and calculations. ^_^
True, I guess most of the planet’s desert and ocean. And I’m aware it’s called Edenworld, I just think Sky Texas is a funny nickname for it.
