That's a great idea! If the Jotun get introduced into Edenworld eventually they would need to know things. Lyron's got the memory belt, and it would make sense for there to be something in place for them so they could learn about the new world they're in. I think the world according to Lyron would be an interesting read.

And there's definitly a demand for the comics in printed form. I'm pretty sure we've had a couple conversations under the comic pages where we've asked you if you would make new ones. I still want a copy. :3

I'll have a think. ^-^ Yours are cool actually - could be a Jotun handbook Lyron put together himself. After all, he's the one discovering new things around him and he's got a memory belt, right? Kind of ties in.

Meanwhile Ratbat, the only reason you don't have a bigger fan base is because you didn't print up more copies of your comic (...yet). I happen to know that all 300 or so of your original comics SOLD OUT. ^-^ Yes, they did! *holds up own copy of EWS comic* See?

If you had more comics available, you'd have lots more folks in your fan-base. And I guarantee they'd all be clamouring for a fantasy science background section and yes, they would read it.

Why not set up a poll to ask the masses what they think?

Hmmm, well the race biography add-ins would be good for all the info about Gaurdia, because that's a fairly popular topic it seems.... but I'm not sure what to do about some of the other stuff. If you could think of an umbrella name to the topic or make a section called "The Science of Edenworld" or something with a less lame name you could probably put all the extra stuff in there?
Or maybe you could write it as if one of the characters, maybe Holygear, was researching it? Or maybe as if it's a handbook for just "born" Mashina so they can learn about the world around them?

Do you have any ideas Jaylaw?

jaylaw/schmedder : How do you proppose i do this? I know Jaylaw sent me a proposal for an add-in from the race biographys whitch I'll be adding in soon. But theres just so much fantasy fringe science that most people probibly wouldnt take the time to read unless they are really into the comic.

*applauds Q and A; takes biology notes ^-^ *
You should compile some of the letters pages into some sort of 'nature notes' - there are very good bits and bobs in there, and it saves re-explaining things that you've already gone over from previous questions too. ^-^

And I guess her mech attentively watches over her until she gives birth. :) Thanks for answering all my questions.

Oh, and I realised that since Edenworld floats due to magnets and some animals orient themselves durring migration or move around their environment using magnetic fields then that might screw things up for them. But you said that Edenworld is normally above the desert, so as long as animals aren't migrating there then they should be okay. And I don't know if the ecology is different, so there might not even be animals effected. :)

If a Guardia gets pregnant she's put into a kind of stasis lock. Given the nature of the insides of their bodies, transforming would almost certainly terminate pregnancy.

Yeppers! And it had a reproduction unit, hence the questions. I can't wait till next year when I'll get to take more program specific courses like Forest Science and Toxicology. <3

So would a Gaurdia still be able to transform when she's pregnant, or would her transforming chassis not be able to move properly due to it?

Biology exam eh?

Most everything external stays exactly the same but the inside changes dramatically.

On the outside, females keep their general looks, hair length, skin colour, voice, ethnic features, etc.
These aspects are considered part of the superficial “shell” which is a conduit between a woman's female purpose and her true form (a mech) which is folded up inside herself just under her skin-like surface. A Guardia never loses her personality and memories. This is good if you have a mental problem due to a chemical imbalance - that stuff gets fixed - but not so good if you truly are a psychopath. Because apotheosis can't change who you are morally.

When nanomachines mimic and destroy all of the old cell systems, they mimic biological organs in stages until all of the organs become “machine systems” instead.
Guardia (probably don't) menstruate because their body doesn't incorporate the use of a placenta in the womb the same way a mammal does. All those old hormones and things that put a female in a cycle don't apply because the system for which Guardia become pregnant and give birth is a lot different. Guardia don't breastfeed because children absorb in the things they need through the surface of their skin much like their folks do. They don't need to use the bathroom, but they do “sweat” like normal living things and this eliminates waste and damaged nanotek from the body. The sweat often smells like rust, ozone, metal, smoke, and Guardia lose their original “smell”. You don't smell like a natural creature, you smell more like a piece of aircraft.

Your skin is just layers of softly less densely packed nanomachines. It's soft like human skin but it's durable like a shark suit. Your eyes get waay better and glow slightly when the lights are out. You're capable of adjusting your own sight for up to half a mile in range, you can also see in the dark. (some Guardia have infrared vision, some get x-ray vision but it largely depends on the specs of he mech that transformed you). Your height and weight are increased exponentially. The average height of a Guardia is 18 feet. You lose your bone structure and gain a ‘frame” which is a transforming chassis to house your precious systems and alt mode. Your strength, memory, and patience increases as you become more machine-like by the day but you leave the mortal coil entirely because you don't age.

Even though you get all this cool shit by becoming a mech, you're not totally invincible. You can still be killed if your enemy is competent enough or they isolate you from your mate long enough. Nothing is eternal.

“Girl” babies born from a Guardia and a Mashina also look human but with ever slightly more physical signs of their robot nature. Rendivi would be an extreme example of this.
