A few of us old fogeys agree that anime was much better in the early 90′s, but you still have a crop of the “old guard” making great stuff out of studio MADHOUSE up to the present day. Its just too bad that one of My favorite director/animators Satoshi Kon has just passed away at the young age of 47. I believe that Japan has probably lost about 40% of its talent, and he will be sorely missed. I am a Huge fan of “Magnetic rose”, “Paranoia agent”, “Tokyo Godfathers”, and “paprika” and I hope more people will continue to discover the works this man left behind, because too few studios in japan are even raising the bar anymore. Paprika

What!? No! I loved Paprika, the world really needed more anime like that. I’ll have to take a look at some of his other animes.
schmedder: Its sad, Apperently it was pancriotic cancer. Thats the stuff thats got the 95% fatality and Its increadibly rare these days for a japanese person to die before age 60 (teen suicides not accounting).
