I think the busyness int the page helps with the market setting you have, it helps convey how busy an bussling it is are Lyon.

  2. RozBot says:

I agree with the above post about the busyness. This really reminds me of the “piac” or market places in Hungary. Except full of beasties. This makes me want to visit a Sargon market place. *thinks that cobra fellow looks neat*

  3. Core says:

I agree with the above people… it really only has a positive affect as far as .. making us, the reader, feel this is a market setting.

All machina and animals and no humans. Huh… Whelp, depending on the last few books, the humans can rot then for being meanies to the machina. <3

  5. Well, humans are there, here and there anyway. The background behind Dalmuhd Aveh is that it used to be a city for humans hundreds of years ago. But about 500 years ago, after the great period of rest, the Mashina enacted their plan to turn every female human into a Guardia to fortify their numbers. This scared the humans and they scattered across the land to live in nomadic societies. The Sargons simply took the town over so they could begin fixing the large scale desert that happened because of the old wars.

Jotuns don’t really have anything to do with the events of the world after year 4500 A.I. (because they are a sub race of Mashina born inside the bubble surrounding the Yggdrassil.) Instead they have to contend with Norns who are 50 x worse then humans.

I got into sentient mecha with Beast Wars, actually… I was never a huge anime fan, and much preferred the western treatment of robots for a while. I do remember thinking that some of the Gundam shows looked awesome, as well as Zoids, but I never watched any of them, really. I did get through Gurren Lagann recently though, and I’m still finishing the new Battlestar Galactica series (oh god I love it to pieces), and of course there’s always characters like Iron Man and Samus Aran that, while aren’t giant by any means, still manage to kick ass in great looking suits. :]

  7. Pilot says:

Oh! And I totally forgot to ask you how you got into it. I mean, as far as anime/manga goes, there isn’t very much in terms of sentient mecha at all, which it pretty disappointing. What’s some of your favorite material/inspiration?

  8. Jaylaw says:

The cobra fellow is a frilled lizard guy. ^-^

  9. Pilot: Welp, you could say I always had an uncanny imagination when it came to inanimate objects. Shows like Cars, The Brave Little Toaster, The BOTS Master, things of this nature really piqued my interest as a kid. Of course I was already into fantasy and talking dragons but with machines it was just as cool. Thing is, I’ve developed a kind of fetish for sentient machines now. And watching and playing countless video games and mech anime has trained me to stop seeing the pilots and giving personalities and souls to every new awesome design I find. Now I am a super robot wars fanatic with tendencies of liking Gundam, and some others on the side. My absolute favourite game is Xenogears 9 and I’m still waiting for a remake to this day.) I suppose I should just come out n’ say that I think a world where a mecha race co-existed alongside humans would be awesome and sexy. Edenworld is in part my answer to my wishes.
I actually draw adult stuff regarding humans and machines from time to time, I’m in the process of making another site for it right now. Hope you’re not offended O.o

  10. Pilot says:

Omg, me too. Brave Little Toaster and Cars… Toy Soldiers, too. (Omg, I totally forgot about the Iron Giant. I cry whenever I see that movie.) Classic fantasy stuff is awesome too. I was a major buff as a kid.

And honestly? What I would give to live in a world like that. |D
Be sure to let me know what you’ve got that site up. It’s about time a community formed someplace.
