There probably wasn’t any reason that Jet couldn’t have just walked calmly up to the door and knocked rather than scare the crap out of the tank meeses inside. All Mashina can control their descent pretty well – I guess if a mecha is in a hurry he just doesn’t consider how much his weight might effect a rooftop or a crowd of people.
