Cocla: Makenai and a handful of other Mashina were born with freakish size differences just as some humans are born like Andre “The Giant” or jockeys with dwarfism. There might be a good chance there’s a 7 foot tall Amazonian ’sister’ waiting for Maki along down the line.
No one within the story (except maybe Lyron and Holy) really understands why there aren’t any original female Mashina. But roughly the reason why is that the Wave God created the Mashina first, and made them far superior physically to humans. If they weren’t kept in check some how, they would have become too arrogant and would have never co-operated with humanity.
Regardless of how tough and ageless you are in this world, you can always be outnumbered by those who can breed.

Also, Mashina collect very young female children and hold on to them like a bank. They also hold on to some older women too. But not every girl is useable at the present moment.

Could a daughter Guardia or son Jotun do so?

A true Mashina is the child of a Guardia and a Mashina. These children (and the Norn peoples) are the real future of the human and Mashine race. The two DNAs don’t fight because (I didn’t really want to explain this yet) essentially, you’re right. The two codes merge into one new set of DNA and this is shared by both.
Humans get turned into machines because the male mech’s nanotech blood takes over completely. It emulates every cell of the human and replaces them using the males DNA. At the end of the day, The only thing a girl has left of her original self is her physical traits and her memories (which have a potential to get passed onto the daughter) from that point on, the obsolete DNA have a small part in determining what the Guardia’s Alt mode will look like. (kinda like transformers but more like a werewolf)
I didnt want this to sound like a dirty ecchi Japanese H-story, but Mashina tend to err very sexual toward the ones they like. Males like to experience the memories and “eat” the emotions of their Guardia ( because a Guardia is now more machine-esque its now a lot like 2 computers networking between one another). Through this contact, Mashina learn all sorts of things like human suffering, compassion, that help them grow to be better people.
The human looses her humanity, and the Mashina becomes less like a cold-hearted machine creature- everyone meets at the middle.

I know this is going to make me look really dumb but at this point I don’t care. It could be the cold meds talking. I am confused as to the terms that are being used when describe the beings of this world. Could someone give me an Idiots Guide to Edenworld Beings? I’ve been reading this comic for a while and it’s so in depth that sometimes I get lost. However, that is not a sign of bad writing, it’s my lack of braincells. The writing is very good and expansive and the art I love. I never thought I would like something with Robots/Mecha in it but here I am waiting on the edge of my set for the next page to go up. I have a question though, if male Norns are mating with Sargons, that’s diluting the human genome with Sargon DNA. Exactly how human does someone have to be to be able to change into a Gaurdia? Would they not be changed completely, or would only the human DNA be changed and the Sargon DNA replaced? And would this create a weakened Gaurdia?

I want to err on the side of caution alittle because the comic art style seems like it is focused on pre-teens, but the story is deceptively adultish like Ebichu the house-keeping hampster. (lots of sex, philospohy, and science behind the scenes).

Cocla: from the wiki: Physically Mashina and Jotun are the same except for the ratio of strength in their brains. Most Mashina are 90% logical and 10% chaotic. Jotun by virtue of their culture are 70% logical and 30% chaotic. Mashine people (even Guardias) have two brains located somewhere in the body. The logic brain is everything having to do with factual knowledge, mathematical calculations and probability, memory, pain and pleasure, etc. The chaos brain deals with emotions, wisdom, humour, empathy, belief in the unexplainable or unproveable and of course, imagination.
The Mashine race, because of the way their brains are set up, tend not to understand the subtly of music and the humour of jokes. It’s harder for them to understand the existence of God and even harder for them to control their emotions when they do feel them. They never evolved close to humans and thus don’t see themselves as being on the same level.
Jotun race grew up in the shadow of Bifrost in Sekond world and always had to deal with Norns as they functioned. Being close to the kings, the Norns, and the Yggdrassil tree has imbued the Jotun with a stronger chaos brain. Jotuns can understand the humour of jokes, and are more tolerant of strange phenomenon. Jotun aren’t as black-and-white in their views of the world, but they are short lived because the Norns destroy them constantly. Jotun don’t have nearly the knowledge or history that Mashina have.. So they have yet to reach any understanding of their full potential.
Mashina steal, kidnap and seduce human women because they can. And they almost have to. Their enemy, (the devils) have figured out what the Mashina are doing and have taken to slaughtering every human they find *especially* if it’s a woman. So even if Mashina didn’t do what they were doing, the humans would go extinct. At least this way, the human race lives on within the two stronger races.
Bonding can be forced without the girls consent initially, but Mashina have to work fast to win the hearts of the women they love or they are D.E.A.D. The process of creating and maintaining your half system (Guardia) becomes a taxing force that needs the female’s co-operation.
Eventually all the human girls kidnapped learn this little fact.. and choose to ‘make things work’ over certain death…

I guess when you have to choose between love and death it’s a bit different. Although I’m sure that the fact that it might kill them is another reason that Mashina don’t force themselves on women as much as might be expected.
Has there ever been any Gardia or enlarged females bitter over being forced to change? I mean, you were kidnapped, taken from your home and family, and then while you were unconsious you were enlarged so you would never fit back in at home. And this is done by creatures who have hunted your people to near extinction. As much as I love the idea of being wooed by a giant robot, but realistically, I would be pretty ticked and bitter about the whole situation forced on me

basicly yes, Alot of human women are ticked off about what the mashina have been doing for the last 80 years. Opinions are mixed and complicated however in the current state of the world. The mashina males pamper the heck out of thos girls when they turn them into guardias in part to make amends for the horrible past history they shared. The mashina really do love their females, but this comes at a huge cost to the human race. Mashina have no use for human males who are cast to the wayside and this has caused a severe decline in human birth. the Human race will go extinct without the human women the mashina have stolen, and the mecha will NEVER give thos women back.
the basic delema is, That much of the human race was nomadic and unequal amung the sexes. the harsh desert lands provided little food and life spans were not as good as the hayday of the zeboim age. Guardias and captured catalyst humans alike have differing opinions on what have happend to them because they live incredibly good lives under the mashinas care. some women consider Apothesis the price of a hot bath and a good meal while other women consider immortality and relocation a huge violation of their religious creed. in most human religions, the mashina are like demons, so the prospect of haveing been wooed by one is a sin initself. And its true, manny of the girls miss their families whitch they may never see again. Its a mixed bag.
So human women are very precious to them. I adore that idea. There have been too many mecha movies and series and manga where its the boys who befriend the giant robots and/or pilot them. About time we have a series where the mechas want nothing to do with males.

Just a touch confused about the steps to becoming a Gardia. Here is what I think I understand. Please, correct me if I am wrong.
First enlargement. Then there a induction into Mashine society where a Mashine will choose one of the women to be his mate. Then come the wooing and hopefully mating? Just not sure when it becomes absolutely nescessary for a girl to have to mate in order to preserve her life.

Its extreamly rare for 2 male mashina to be compatible at the same time to the same woman. A persons physicle APHEL is usually pretty unique and thus prevents the doubbling up of males on females. However, in the one case it happend, both males shared the one female equally.

Cocla: from the wiki: Physically Mashina and Jotun are the same except for the ratio of strength in their brains. Most Mashina are 90% logical and 10% chaotic. Jotun by virtue of their culture are 70% logical and 30% chaotic. Mashine people (even Guardias) have two brains located somewhere in the body. The logic brain is everything having to do with factual knowledge, mathematical calculations and probability, memory, pain and pleasure, etc. The chaos brain deals with emotions, wisdom, humour, empathy, belief in the unexplainable or unproveable and of course, imagination.
The Mashine race, because of the way their brains are set up, tend not to understand the subtly of music and the humour of jokes. It’s harder for them to understand the existence of God and even harder for them to control their emotions when they do feel them. They never evolved close to humans and thus don’t see themselves as being on the same level.
Jotun race grew up in the shadow of Bifrost in Sekond world and always had to deal with Norns as they functioned. Being close to the kings, the Norns, and the Yggdrassil tree has imbued the Jotun with a stronger chaos brain. Jotuns can understand the humour of jokes, and are more tolerant of strange phenomenon. Jotun aren’t as black-and-white in their views of the world, but they are short lived because the Norns destroy them constantly. Jotun don’t have nearly the knowledge or history that Mashina have.. So they have yet to reach any understanding of their full potential.
Mashina steal, kidnap and seduce human women because they can. And they almost have to. Their enemy, (the devils) have figured out what the Mashina are doing and have taken to slaughtering every human they find *especially* if it’s a woman. So even if Mashina didn’t do what they were doing, the humans would go extinct. At least this way, the human race lives on within the two stronger races.
Bonding can be forced without the girls consent initially, but Mashina have to work fast to win the hearts of the women they love or they are D.E.A.D. The process of creating and maintaining your half system (Guardia) becomes a taxing force that needs the female’s co-operation.
Eventually all the human girls kidnapped learn this little fact.. and choose to ‘make things work’ over certain death…

I guess when you have to choose between love and death it’s a bit different. Although I’m sure that the fact that it might kill them is another reason that Mashina don’t force themselves on women as much as might be expected.
Has there ever been any Gardia or enlarged females bitter over being forced to change? I mean, you were kidnapped, taken from your home and family, and then while you were unconsious you were enlarged so you would never fit back in at home. And this is done by creatures who have hunted your people to near extinction. As much as I love the idea of being wooed by a giant robot, but realistically, I would be pretty ticked and bitter about the whole situation forced on me

basicly yes, Alot of human women are ticked off about what the mashina have been doing for the last 80 years. Opinions are mixed and complicated however in the current state of the world. The mashina males pamper the heck out of thos girls when they turn them into guardias in part to make amends for the horrible past history they shared. The mashina really do love their females, but this comes at a huge cost to the human race. Mashina have no use for human males who are cast to the wayside and this has caused a severe decline in human birth. the Human race will go extinct without the human women the mashina have stolen, and the mecha will NEVER give thos women back.
the basic delema is, That much of the human race was nomadic and unequal amung the sexes. the harsh desert lands provided little food and life spans were not as good as the hayday of the zeboim age. Guardias and captured catalyst humans alike have differing opinions on what have happend to them because they live incredibly good lives under the mashinas care. some women consider Apothesis the price of a hot bath and a good meal while other women consider immortality and relocation a huge violation of their religious creed. in most human religions, the mashina are like demons, so the prospect of haveing been wooed by one is a sin initself. And its true, manny of the girls miss their families whitch they may never see again. Its a mixed bag.
So human women are very precious to them. I adore that idea. There have been too many mecha movies and series and manga where its the boys who befriend the giant robots and/or pilot them. About time we have a series where the mechas want nothing to do with males.

Just a touch confused about the steps to becoming a Gardia. Here is what I think I understand. Please, correct me if I am wrong.
First enlargement. Then there a induction into Mashine society where a Mashine will choose one of the women to be his mate. Then come the wooing and hopefully mating? Just not sure when it becomes absolutely nescessary for a girl to have to mate in order to preserve her life.
Secondly, what happens when two Mashine choose the same girl? Robo-brawl?

Aragem: When a human girl becomes a Guardia, her sickness, desease, cancer, genetic abnormalitys are fixed in the mashine Apotheosis process. Atleast physicle illnesses can, mental illness generaly cant be fixed, mental illness often lies in the personality. ones own historicle trauma shapes the way our personalitys are. mashina cant change that whitch is fundamentaly yourself.
your pretty much on the money as far as it happens. Human women in this story posess a 2nd set of DNA called catalys DNA and this is what tells the body to grow into a mecha instead of a human at the end of puberty. If mashine DNA isnt introduced into the girls body before the end of puberty or (before age 23), then she will stay human forever.
Its extreamly rare for 2 male mashina to be compatible at the same time to the same woman. A persons physicle APHEL is usually pretty unique and thus prevents the doubbling up of males on females. However, in the one case it happend, both males shared the one female equally.
