The Norns feared it for good reason: it kills. But on EW the geniouses found out that if they took some of the nano colony out of a male that had no mate, they could spin it through anouther machine and strip it of its base code. In doing so you eliminate all the dangerous propertys it carrys and then you can repurpose that "Coedons" stuff into other living things to make them grow to a larger scale like plants, fish, people. its better to use the blood of a single male or single guardia because its less complicated to strip the attackers out. If you dont do a good job, the Coedons come with a slight risk of death your putting them on. The Blood consists of 3 types: Attackers, Assymilators, Assemblers. the attackers are responsible for the toxticity because they actively seek out foreighn bodies to destroy. if thos foreighn bodies just so happen to be your own blood cells or lung cells then your toast. Mashina or Jotun must actively find the "correct" girl - simular genetic composition, so these attackers will recognise her body as freindly. anyway.. its kind of complicated.. maybe too much for a webcomic.
