Notes: I’m already 25% through my next page, but I can’t help but feel that maybe my pages are becoming a bit too busy as I’ve broke my “no less then 5, no more then 8 panels per page” rule. For the duration of this scene I’m-a try n dial it back on the number of panels. Also, hurry up and vote on my poll so I can put a new poll up! I can’t take this one down till I get 100 votes!
Lyron finally uses the memory belt that Panchun gave him back in book 3/4 . Instead of answers he gets a vision of Panchun in her childhood with her sister and father at the high class armordon stables. It is here that she finds Gouli which means “FAT” in Norn language. Best thing about armordons is that they tend to be colored like cows (there’s a cow print one near the bottom) along with blonde and black colors. The creatures love to eat and jump and climb so they have to be trained to behave.
Every fantasy comic tends to come with its own token “cute fuzzy creature” and in this case it’s the armordon – inspired by rhinoceros, squirrel, lizard.

Yes, the return of the armordons has arrived!
Ahem… So, two questions: 1) is that a young Gouli in the bottom right hand corner, and 2) would that memory belt be one of those fabled rune weapons?
Cute page, btw. Stupid, awesome, fluffy tails… *leaves to pet cat*
^^ Awwwww. Widdle baby armordons So cute
Omg, they’re so cute in that last panel! *plays with their ears* ^.^
Btw, love how ya drew Lyron’s face in the first panel. Totally awesome
MopZ: personal question? guy or girl? I never hear of guys talking about their kittys unless they are engineers. (If you wanna get the reference to that go here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHXBL6bzAR4 )
1) Gouli will be on the next page eating a table cloth.
2) The memory belt isn’t a rune even though it was made in a similar way. Rune weapons are typically crystals of sap from the Yggdrassil and don’t become a physically tangable weapon without someone’s force of will.
Norns have very weak magic ability, but they’ve managed to permanently affix magical affects to cloth and wood using ground up crystal surrounding Yggdrassil (Hermetic bombs are just one of these crystal-ish items.) Sargons don’t have this ability but they have much more world-shaking magic ability and are in possession of most of the runes that exist.
A rune is like a “portable Yggdrassil” that any creature can use. It even allows a race that has no magic like humans or Mashina to harness a moderate magical effect. In the case of Terratio for instance, his scarf is man-made by Panchun, but his guns “Hari-Hara” are the result of a rune crystal stuck inside his body. They manifest as guns because hes a mashine, but if a human had the rune, it might manifest as an axe instead.
EWS: Male, socially awkward, playfully impish at times, and a bit of a goof.
*Snickers*
Ah, so rune weapons can change to suit the user somewhat. I don’t think we’ve been shown Lyron’s rune weapon yet (as read in the Makenai bio), so I just assumed it was the belt. Like a, “knowledge is a great weapon”, kind of thing.
Mopz: I borrowed the idea of the rune weapons from Final Fantasy 6’s Atma sword. The more max HP you have in the game, the longer the sword blade becomes on screen and the more damage it creates. So I figured it would be cool for all the races to horde some of these universal evolving weapons but that they would be based off the power of one’s will instead. Runes aren’t terribly important in the story except that they are the most desirable weapon to have in your arsenal, so naturually everyone wants to get their hands on one. But there are only about 320 runes in Ignaz.
I voted…
Besides that, I really like the armordon, they definitely are cute.. and seem really intelligent. You’ve done such a good job with the design/energy you put into this creature I would like to have one for a pet.
