Notes: In book one, some of you asked why Cheska Chatori had little “hexagon” shapes on her face when she got mad fighting Genya. Well, The blood of the mashine people, the nanomachines have a hexagon shape and tend to chain themselves in hexagon clusters as well. When male mashines regenerate, or Guardias transform, you see the metalic skin segment into hexagons as it folds and changes the density of the colony cluster. when nanomachines hang in loose clusters, they produce “soft metal” or “sponge metal” whitch has a softness simular to frosted glass or the way a human girls skin was in her former life. When a guardia needs to transform, her internal nanomachines densify and push her alt mode parts to the surface where the softer skin retracts underneith. This process of transformation takes only a few seconds and is not typicly painfull. In battle mode a guardias flesh is more durable but they use their reserve nanomachines faster as it is harder to close wounds so they cant remain in this mode indefinatly.

Interesting transformation sequence. Looking forward to the next page
I’m curious though, is that “liquid looking” stuff condensation?
yep. condensation. alittle bit of escaped internal fluid perhapse.
The transformation sequence and explanation is interesting, but for me it brings to mind some questions. Like, what alternate modes are the Guardia limited to? Is it just weapons, or could they be some type of transportation. And with the weapons, do their body size/shape factor into the type of weapon the form? For example, could one transform into a staff or spear or anything else long and slender, or would that put too much of a stress on their bodies? And do all Guardia have an alternate mode, or only a few?
Just random curiosity there, you don’t have to answer if it’ll give away spoilers.
It shouldnt be too much of a spoiler if your used to mechs transforming in general…
usually, about 50% of all guardias have awakend their ‘true selves” and can change (whitch is roughly how many mashina males transform). But forms are usually just vuague interpretations of flying machines, tanks, mythicle animals, weapons and platforms. Mostly because cars, planes, ships with cockpits dont exsist in the EW story the way they do in transformers. humans never created the mashina, so their alt modes are usually just utilitarian in nature. Your form is limited by your size. If your a heavy mech, or maybe a stalky guardia, your alt mode errs on the heavy duty side, and vice versa. No one transforms into staffs..or anything smaller then 50% of their total body mass.
Awesome explanation on the process of the Nano machines regeneration/transformation for your characters.
