You cant see it very well since this page is not toned yet, But the Jist of whats going on, is that the mashina are being ambushed. That last panel Is a tsunami wave of seawater summoned right over the Mashina’s heads with magic.
Mashina and Aphel blindess: If it wasnt clear enough in the wiki, The mecha in this story are sort of like “white blood cells” In how they perceive other living things around them. With chemicle, heat signatures, pheramones, Supernatural aphel sence, hearing, etc.. The mecha can generally perceive the species, age, sex, and physicle condition of a living creature. If that creature has become a devil however, They are an abberation of the natural order and thus, mashina Cannot sence them except with sight and hearing (like a human ). Extra sensory mecha abilitys like infared also rarely work because Devils are ice cold, though sonar and radar could work, there are magics that can also foil even these.
The mechs react the way they do at Lyron because its as if hes “snuck up on them”. And its nearly impossble to sneak up on mashina unless your a devil.. or If your a devil carrying a female human baby to make mashina do a B line right for you thinking your alive..

Those devils are pretty sneaky! I always thought of them more as an unthinking monster race, but this took some strategy…

Schmedder: Most are kind of unthinking hive minds like the dragon spawn, But the stronger, older, smarter devils use them like chess pawns whenever they come up with some clever way to get at the mashina.

So are all the Devils evil? Or are there factions of good devils and factions of bad devils? How does that work?
Core: Devils arent inherently evil, they are just corrupted people’s. corrputed by something that doesnt share the same morality as the God’s that created this world. There are infact factions amoung the stronger devils, For instance, the Lords still belive they are in control of their own destinys and eatch control a cadre to try and beat the sargons and mashina. The devil mashina have their own faction aswell. they can work independantly or as a group but its assumed that they are doing what it is they do in the name of turning the cursed world into a “utopia”.
